Sports Cast for August 26th:
A 27 yard touchdown pass on fourth down was the Brahmans only score but it was enough as they defeated Lake Placid Friday in the kick off classic 8-6 in a defensive struggle marred by turnovers.
The game was delayed 30 minutes by thunder storms and the Lake Placid Junior Varsity dominated the first quarter with a 70 yard touchdown run by Alan Wiggins and another 75 yard touchdown that was called back by a penalty.
Okeechobee’s varsity dominated the second quarter with a 70 yard touchdown drive highlighted by a leaping catch by Eddie Neal on a pass from Kory Surls.
The second half featured scoring chances by both teams in the red zone, with Lake Placid held on downs, and Okeechobee fumbling.
Zeke Matthews interception late in the game insured the Brahmans victory.
Brahman Coach Chris Branham said the team has a lot of work to do but this was a good way to start. Khalil Smith had 71 yards rushing in the game. He said the running backs are working well with their offensive linemen.
Drayton Billie had 76 yards rushing for Okeechobee which include a 52 yard run in the second half.
