Sports Cast for October 25th:
Tabatha Henry won her second district title Thursday with a school record breaking performance at the Ag Civic Center at the District 3A-14 meet. Henry finished the course in 18 minutes and 50 seconds, a school record by close to 30 seconds. She defeated Bethany Hardcastle of South Fork, the girl that won districts last year, by 24 seconds.
Henry said the win made all the hard work pay off. Henry broke the school record last week in Sebring with a time of 19 minutes plus and did even better in cool and perfect conditions Thursday. The girls’ team finished fourth overall. Suncoast was the district champion. The boys’ team took third place. Hernan Baltazar finished seventh at 17 minutes and 40 seconds. Emmanuel Gaona finished 10th and Daniel Shelley in 13th place.
Baltazar said he felt he did well. Suncoast won the district and Sam Geiman of the Chargers won the individual title. Several Brahman runners will compete in the regional race next Saturday at South Fork.
Jensen Beach crushed the lady Brahmans in the district volleyball championship match last night, 25-10, 25-12, and 25-9. Okeechobee will still compete in regional next week.
Brahman football tonight against the 7-1 Bayside Bears. The Bears have been on a roll this year with just one loss to Melbourne. Okeechobee is devastated by injury and will be without several starters including Cody Walker, Devon Wigfall, Edrick Neal, Bubba Fludd, Tyrell Taylor and Juan Yae Ford.
Kickoff tonight is at 7 pm.
