Devereaux Community Based Care of Okeechobee and the Treasure Coast was recently rewarded a contract with the Department of Children and Families to coordinate and oversee childhood welfare services for Okeechobee and the Treasure Coast (Indian River, St Lucie and Martin counties)
Christina Kaiser is a representative of Devereux and attended a recent Kiwanis Club of Okeechobee meeting. Ms. Kaiser presented to the club with the goal of explaining what Community Based Care is. Admittedly, the subject can be very complicated.
Ms. Kaiser explained that the job of Devereux is to partner up with local children and family services and make sure they have the tools to succeed. Ms. Kaiser said the ultimate goal is the elimination of child abuse and neglect.
Dr. Barry Hummel spoke at a recent Kiwanis Club of Okeechobee representing Quit Doc, a foundation committed to research and education for quitting tobacco. Dr. Hummel’s main emphasis during his presentation was about the dangers of marketing E-cigarettes to children.
