With school beginning this week, some children don’t have the luxury of having the needed supplies. The Kiwanis Club of Okeechobee held their annual school supply drive and donated the proceeds to the Real Life Children’s Ranch.

The club raised over $2000 and two anonymous members matched that total to bring the final tally to over $4000. The club also donated several notebooks, folders, binders, pens and pencils and other supplies.

Kiwanis member and school supply drive organizer Dowling Watford says the Kiwanis Club of Okeechobee has held this drive for over fifteen years and this was by far the most money raised.

Real Life Children’s Ranch director Mark Meyers accepted the donation and was visibly touched and admittedly overwhelmed saying that the Kiwanis has always done so much for the Ranch, but this went above and beyond anything he ever expected.

Real Life Children’s Ranch is a faith based ministry that offers residential, family style group foster homes.
