News Cast for July 5th:

Hope you all enjoyed the decline of gas prices because it’s about to go the other way. AAA officials say prices at the pump, which have declined by as much as twenty four cents since Memorial Day, will begin to rise before the end of the week. Spokesperson Mark Jenkins says the soon to be rising gas prices are due to United States officials asking allies to stop importing oil from Iran and oil statistics showing record exports leading to a decline in US crude inventories. Jenkins says the prices should start to rise shortly after Independence Day concludes. Jenkins says despite the rising gas prices, it will remain well below the average of $3 dollars and sixty cents from July, 2014.

One of the buildings on Commerce Park on the Okeechobee County Airport will have a new tenant. County Commissioners last week approved a leasing with Crispim Construction Pros, LLC, a Pompano Beach based contracting company, dealing mainly in kitchen cabinetry. Owner Emerson Crispim says he chose Okeechobee for his business because the size of the building was perfect for his business and because there is more of a clientele here as opposed to Pompano Beach. Crispim also says he’s purchased land here for his family and he loves the lifestyle Okeechobee offers. Airport Director Kathy Scott says Crispim Construction will be in an “incubator” building on the site, normally a place for start-up businesses and she hopes it will help grow Crispim’s business.

An Okeechobee man is in county jail on a host of charges after an incident Monday evening. Sheriff’s deputies say 52 year old Scott Wesley Reiss went to the home of his ex-girlfriend, knowing full well he had been trespassing and had been warned not to return. He began harassing her and her ex-husband while trying to get some personal items out of the house. Deputies say Reiss had also been driving a Mercedes belonging to his ex-girlfriend and he was driving it without a license. Reiss came back without informing law enforcement and he was arrested for trespassing and resisting arrest. His bond has not been set.
