Brahman Alums Win Football State Title at Sanford Seminole (AUDIO INCLUDED)

Eric Lodge, head coach of State Champion Sanford Seminole and Okeechobee alum

There is an Okeechobee connection with Seminole High School in Sanford winning the Florida Class 8A Football State Championship on December 19th. The team is coached by Okeechobee alum Eric Lodge and the offensive coordinator is Rex Erwin Jr, another OHS alum. Seminole beat Kissimmee Osceola 38-10 to cap off the school’s first undefeated season in program history along with their first second state title. The first one came in 2008.

Lodge was promoted to head coach over the summer after several year’s as the team’s defensive coordinator. Lodge obviously had to overcome unusual circumstances as a first time head coach in navigating a season during the Covid-19 Pandemic. Lodge is a 2007 graduate of Okeechobee and his offensive coordinator Rex Erwin Jr is a 2006 graduate.
