Liam Lipham from the Hanley Foundation spoke recently to the Kiwanis Club of Okeechobee about the Foundation itself and some of the local new initiatives the organization is undertaking.
The vision of the Hanley Foundation is substance and alcohol abuse prevention with a focus on opioid abuse. Hanley Foundation is a recognized thought leader in this evolving dialogue on both the local and the national level. Their vision to provide increased educational opportunities to professionals and paraprofessionals, who are on the front lines of this crisis in our local communities, is a model for outreach programs countrywide.
The Foundation is present in 22 Florida Counties including Okeechobee. Lipham spoke specifically on the H.O.G.O.C initiative. Hendry, Okeechobee and Glades County Opioid Consortium, a collection of County leaders dedicated to fighting the spread of opioid abuse. Okeechobee City Mayor Dowling Watford and Okeechobee County Sherriff Noel Stephen are both participants in the initiative.
