Kiwanis Club Donates for Real Life Children’s Ranch School Supply Drive (AUDIO INCLUDED)

Kiwanis Club members Don Hanna and Sherri Enfinger present a check to Real Life Children’s Ranch Director Mark Mayers through video presentation

The Kiwanis Club of Okeechobee held their annual School Supply Drive to benefit the families at the Real Life Children’s Ranch in Okeechobee last week. The club donated $4000 for RLCR to use to by school clothes, supplies and other necessities for the start of school on August 10th.

For around twenty years the club has held this internal event for Real Life Children’s Ranch. The club has two anonymous members that match the rest of the club’s donation dollar for dollar up to $1000. One difference this year was that representatives from the Ranch were unable to accept the donation in person due to Covid contact tracing protocol. Executive Director of Real Life Children’s Ranch Mark Mayers spoke to the club through a video he made from the Ranch on his phone.

Real Life Children’s Ranch is a faith-based ministry that offers residential, family style group foster homes. We are licensed by the state of Florida to provide group foster homes for boys and girls who have been abused, abandoned and/or neglected.

The Kiwanis Club of Okeechobee is a youth service organization dedicated to improving the lives of children in our community. The club meets every Thursday at noon in the back room at Lakeside Grill. Anyone interested in joining or learning more about the club is invited to attend. Like the Club on Facebook and message the club with further questions.
