The Kiwanis Club of Okeechobee held their annual Spring Clean drive to benefit Martha’s House, an organization that supports the victims of domestic violence. Three representatives of the organization spoke to the club on the services they provide. Sally Savage, the injunction for protection attorney spoke along with community educator Shirlean Graham and victim advocate Maribel Martinez.
Martha’s House provides several services for domestic violence victims aimed at helping them move on and succeed after leaving a violent relationship. Some of those services include the emergency shelter, individual advocacy counseling, legal aid, community education and child advocacy among others.
The Kiwanis club donated a variety of cleaning supplies along with $400 to help maintain the emergency shelter.
