Marker Wins Gold At Florida State Special Olympics (AUDIO INCLUDED)

Carol Marker

OHS Senior Carol Marker recently won Gold at the Florida State Special Olympics in tennis. Marker defeated the opponent that beat her the year before. For Marker, she says she felt immediate pride in what she was able to do.

Marker on how she felt

This was the third Gold medal that Marker has won. She has also won gold in state in bowling and Botchee Ball. Marker says that she is most proud of representing the Okeechobee community.

Marker on Community Pride

Marker has autism and obviously does not let it keep her from success in athletics and academics. Marker will graduate Okeechobee high school in a few weeks and plans on studying culinary arts at IRSC. Marker says she hopes her success show others with autism what they can do.

Marker on being a role model

Carol Marker hopes to get word in October that she qualifies for the Special Olympics World Games to be held in Belin Germany.
