Okeechobee Community Theatre will “Play On” For Their Spring Performance (Audio Included)

The Okeechobee Community Theater is presenting their spring performance of Play On! Beginning this week and running each Friday and Saturday until April 1st.
The play is considered a “play within a play” and focuses on a local play write that agrees to let a community theater perform her play for free. The problem is she keeps changing everything right up until showtime causing major pitfalls with the production.
Joey Marcinek served as assistant director for the production and spoke to WOKC about the play, the real talent in Okeechobee and the overall joy of putting on a performance.
Marcinek, a veteran of many Okeechobee Community Theatre performance also acts in Play On. He tells WOKC about his egotistical and incompetent character and if there are any correlations to local performances he has been a part of in the past.
Play On features an “ensemble cast” meaning they mostly share the lead. Most of the actors and actresses actually play two characters. Jane Robards plays Gerry Dunbar, the play director and tells us about her character. Robards also talks about any parallels she sees with real community theater and why she keeps coming out and participating in Okeechobee Community Theatre.
Grace Morgan has been working with Okeechobee Community Theatre since she was sixteen years old working behind the scenes. For this performance she is the Stage, Prop and Sound manager so she obviously has a lot of responsibilities and must be well organized. Morgan spoke with WOKC about her enjoyment of Play On.
