State Representative Kaylee Tuck was one of the featured speakers at the annual Okeechobee County Republican Party dinner.
Tuck thanked Okeechobee republicans for getting her started in politics as the party debate was the first she ever participated in when she ran for office.
She said the republican voter registration advantage in her district is now 38 percent.
Tuck said she will be working with the Florida Department of Transportation to get funding to widen route 70 between US 27 and Okeechobee.
She also expects the Rural Renaissance bill to be refiled by Sen. Ben Albriton and will fully support it.
Tuck said she did have concerns about businesses bearing the brunt of property tax burdens if property tax reform results in lower taxes for residents.
President Donald Trump and Florida Cattle ranchers have a beef. Trump wants to bring in beef from Argentina to help that struggling country and also lower beef prices in the US.
He said cattle ranchers don’t understand the positive impact tariffs are having on their industry.
In a post of Truth Social, Trump said he loves cattle ranchers but the only reason they are doing so well is because he placed tariffs on cattle coming into the U.S.
The President said if it wasn’t for him, they would be doing just as they’ve done in the past 20 years.
Trump said the ranchers have to get their prices down because the consumer is a very big factor for him.
The FCA released a statement on the issue.
“The Administration’s plan to import more Argentinian beef to lower prices threatens American cattle producers. Tight cattle supplies and high input costs not lack of imports are driving current prices. U.S. ranchers are rebuilding herds and investing heavily in the future of our beef supply. The federal government should let the free market work instead of intervening in cattle markets or rewarding countries that don’t meet out animal health and food safety standards.”
