WOKC News. Another housing development with WOKC News, I’m Charles Murphy. Oogeshoe be Traced gets the recommended approval of the county planning board. It’ll go on to the county commission for rezoning. It’s at 747 Southwest 48th Avenue. The plans include eight acres of commercial use, 463 single family homes, a 36 acre wetland area and 175 townhouses. Donald Barnes told the board that it’s not affordable housing, but it’s not million dollar homes either. But we can’t give a price because we don’t know, like you said, we don’t know what DOT is going to do to us. And we haven’t finished designing the offsite utilities. So we got to bring water from about a mile away. We got to bring sewer from a good ways away. And that’s that’s not cheap. So we haven’t set price points yet, but we are price conscious. The planning board approved a special exception for NFL star Evan Neal. He wants to bring in a sports bar, the Big E 73 sports bar in Douglas Park. It would be at 623 Northeast 13th Avenue. Neal recently re-signed with the New York Giants in a one year minimum contract. An underage teen entered a no contest play to attempted burglary to a dwelling while armed in mask and criminal mischief. James Deskin was 16 when the crime occurred in August of 2024. Two other teens were also charged. Deskin agreed to a sentence of four years in state custody as a youthful offender and two years probation. Yogo Chippea School Board honored Florida Power and Light for sponsoring the annual Teacher Employee Awards Banquet and for their help with the high school construction project. The superintendent, Dylan Tedders. Where FBNL has to be on site, then the contractors have to be on site to make all of those things weave together. So, yes, you’re here for helping us with that silver sponsorship. But I want to thank you for the work you’re doing to help us keep that project on track. He says construction is on schedule for the school to open in August. The Indian Town, Village Planning and Zoning Board approved the major site plan for 71 new homes in Booker Park. It would be on a parcel of just under 11 acres at 16991 Southwest Farms Road. There was some concern about the density on the property, the number of units and the traffic it’ll bring. Some say the village needs to add more park space to accommodate new families. A traffic crash in the 900 block of Highway 98 north at night caused by one person driving with his headlights off. The other driver who was at fault had no driver’s license. The music fest begins tomorrow. Yogo Chippea deputies say do expect more traffic on the roads over the next several days.
