Concerns were raised this summer about navigation in Lake Okeechobee this winter due to low water levels. The recent rain seems to have alleviated a lot of those concerns. Jennifer Reynolds is expecting a wetter than normal winter. She’s with the Water Management District. So we anticipate seeing the lake level continue to rise between now and December. They’re building a new one. The public, though, wants to have access to the nearby playground on the property. Town board member Joy Everhart doesn’t want to sell the building. I disagree on selling it. In our travels, people needed places, a community center in the downtown area or a place for kids to come after school. And the two proposals that came before us, they’re both worthwhile entities that would provide a community service. I’m Charles Murphy, WOKC News.
